Softcrete turns concrete, the cold and rigid material that architects such as Tadao Ando made central to their work, into seating. Ross Lovegrove designed the collection for Gufram in 2007 and summed it up in his own phrase, “soft as concrete”: blocks that look cast in raw concrete but give way when you sit on them.
The Central Module is the element that lengthens a Softcrete sofa between its corners. It is made of polyurethane and finished with Guflac Ultra, which allows use indoors and outdoors. Each module is a 70 cm cube and weighs 13 kg, so a layout can be changed without effort. As with all Gufram pieces, the finish involves handwork, and small differences between modules are normal.
Combined with the Angular Module, the Central Module builds sofas of different lengths and layouts; the Softcrete Cube adds a low table in the same material.
