The End is a tombstone you can sit on. TOILETPAPER, the studio of Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari, designed it in 2014 as a mock memorial to Gufram itself, with the words THE END cut into a slab of „real-faux“ stone. The funeral joke dissolves as soon as you touch it: the slab is soft, weighs 3 kg and works as a stool, in keeping with the anti-design spirit Gufram has always stood for.
It is made of soft polyurethane, finished and decorated by hand with Guflac, and measures 36 by 22 cm and 60 cm high. This edition is limited to 500 pieces. Because the stone pattern is painted by hand, veining and colour differ slightly from one piece to the next.
The End also comes in grey and white, and TOILETPAPER’s Soap is in the shop too. The End Black followed in 2019. This version is black marble with pale veins and gold lettering.
