The Softcrete Cube is the low table of Ross Lovegrove’s Softcrete collection for Gufram, designed in 2007. Like the sofa modules, it looks like a block of cast concrete and turns out to be soft, the paradox Lovegrove summed up as “soft as concrete”.
The cube measures 45 cm on each side and weighs 8 kg, so it can serve as a coffee table in front of the sofa, as a side table or as an extra seat. It is made of polyurethane and finished with Guflac Ultra, which allows use indoors and outdoors, on a terrace as well as in a living room. Gufram’s finish involves handwork, so small differences in the surface are normal.
The cube completes a sofa built from the Central Module and the Angular Module, and it also stands well on its own as a small piece of soft architecture.
